Communication in Data Science: Translating Data into Strategic Insight

3:55 pm   -   4:40 pm

Data science is more than a single algorithm or technology, it is a methodology tying together scientific reasoning, experimentation, machine learning and statistics.  It’s about knowing enough programming to manipulate data at the finest grain, and enough statistics to extract real (not spurious) insights.  But it’s also about being able to formulate the right questions, design meaningful tests, and in the end, communicate results to the people making decisions.  This talk is a practical explanation of what it takes to successfully execute an enterprise-level data science project, from beginning to end, emphasizing both the soft and hard skills necessary to do so.  The session will include a recent case study in workforce analytics.
