Keynote: Developing a Data Driven Organization

This session features perspectives from academia, industry, and government on developing data-driven organizations to address complex problems and global challenges. Some of the issues discussed will include building and training a data science team, challenges arising from cross-disciplinary collaboration, academic-industry-government partnerships, and integrating data into institutional decision making.

The panel will be moderated by Dr. Craig A. Hill, Senior Vice President of Survey, Computing, and Statistical Sciences at RTI International.  Panelists are Mike Bender, the USG director of the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences (LAS), which develops the science of analysis and large-scale informatics; Manny Aparacio, the co-founder of Saffron Technology, which was recently acquired by Intel; Mary Lelik, Senior Vice Provost for Institutional Research and Planning at North Carolina State University, who leads the university’s internal analytics efforts; and Alyson Wilson, Associate Director of the NC State Data Sciences Initiative and Principal Investigator for LAS.
