RTI international conducts research, primarily for the US Federal Government, but also other clients around the world; this research is all geared at improving the human condition by turning knowledge into practice.

In this session, we’ll present three tools that have been developed as part of this research:  1) an interactive mapping visualization that shows our company’s portfolio in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region at a glance; 2) RTI’s Synthetic Population database:  microdata representing every  household and person in the US (and some selected international synthetic populations).  These databases can be used  to support Agent-Based Modeling and other approaches to realistically forecast the size and structure of these synthetic populations up to 100 years into the future; and 3) a team at RTI, working on a contract with BJS, launched a pilot program to count what criminologists refer to as arrest-related deaths, using publically-available, open-source and Internet data.
